WHAT MAKES A GOOD DESIGNER - CLIENT RELATIONSHIP

A good designer-client relationship is the pillar to a fruitful collaboration and a delightful experience in providing the best solutions that both parties work for. Business relationships don’t happen over night. They require a lot of effort and understanding to build a standing partnership. A good partnership between the web designer and the client is extremely important.
Clients should understand that every designer is different and approaches the task in its own way. In order to make the approach comprehensible, it is advised to build a relationship based on an open communication. The basic things required to make a fruitful designer-client relationship are:-

Clarity
Goals should be established at the very beginning of the logo design process. This is because it will be much easier to execute the plan of action if all the required details are provided beforehand. In order to work efficiently, the designer depends on the client to provide a clear and detailed brief about their goals, market and competition.

Communication and transparency
These are the key elements which are required to build a strong relation between the designer and the client. Open, transparent communication is the base for a future partnership. Designers do not exactly know what the customer demands from them, so it is important for the customer and the client to communicate. This leads to flexibility, diplomacy, collaboration and creativity. Both should work in partnership with each other- by collaborating ideas and asking questions that explore and specify all key factors, details and goals of a project.

Openness
Fears, desires and budgets should all be discussed with each other before you move further. Talk openly about your budget. Although conversations about money are sometimes uncomfortable but it should be treated no differently than that of overall project goals. Having shared all of this in the beginning as it will avoid any sort of misunderstanding later.

Trust and confidence
These are probably two of the most important features for a successful client-designer relationship. Where there is trust and confidence, there is understanding and easiness in delivering great results. As a client, don’t be afraid to trust the web designer, especially the one you chose thoroughly, asking for references and design portfolio evidence.
Every web designer has its own working process approach and creative views. He comes with a design suggestion based on the information obtained from you.

Prescribed timeline
Setting a timeline not only organises the designer, but also it gives you an idea of when your project will be finished. It is important for the designer to meet the client’s deadlines.
The client, on the other hand should also understand that sometimes there might come such situations that may force the designer to set the project back. In order for the designer to complete the project in time, it is necessary for the client to provide all required information and feedback.

For a product to be successful, it is important for the designer and the client to develop a good bond between them.
